Keep Section 2 of the Voting Act!

To: Justices Court

From: A constituent in Flagstaff, AZ

October 11, 2025

I am very worried about the Supreme Court’s rehearing of Louisiana v. Callais. Voting rights are so important, and a mistake made today could reshape voting rights for generations in the worst imaginable way. Every American deserves the right to vote and to do so without gerrymandered maps making votes not count as they should. It is very critical that you do the right thing here. Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act is the last major safeguard protecting voters of color from racially discriminatory political maps, which constantly recur across our nation unless the Supreme Court stops it! If Section 2 is struck down, racially discriminatory maps could spread unchecked nationwide. Every level of government – from Congress to school boards – could redraw districts to silence communities of color. We see this happen over and over. You have the power to stop it! I appeal to the court’s patriotism and beg each of you to put our country’s wellbeing above partisanship.
