I just read Senate bill 1 regarding higher education. This bill is trash. It's disgusting to see you trying to drudge up a bill from the last century. I read through the 76 pages if you're curious. It won't stop me from teaching my children the topics you seek to make taboo. My daughter and son will know about women's rights, They will know about the whitewashing of America's immigrant past, My kids will understand slavery was unequivocally bad, My kids will understand and respect a woman has a right to choose. I have shared with them my own unique circumstances to drive these points home. I don't need a teacher/staff to go against what your trash right wing ideology. I've taught them all about consent. I've taught them about the atrocities of everyday men, of white men, and of men in power. What I will not teach...? I will not reach them to conform to republican ideology. I want actually intellectual diversity, which puts white mens' voice at a whisper. because you are not the only people who exist or matter. Your attacks on higher education, societal safety nets, and against women motivate me. I wasn't teaching them any of this before, nor was my school system. I went through the same school system I learned from my kid that republicans have already stripped a lot of the lessons. I had on history, racism and women's rights. I am teaching them now to prevent my kids from experiencing the dumbing down of America. Don't worry, you making it controversial makes it clear to me they needed to be taught. They even tell their neighborhood friends what's they've learned. You can't stop the spread of ideas. You can inject your poisons, republicans, but we will resist.
