I am alarmed by the ongoing efforts of the Trump administration and Elon Musk to illegally dismantle critical services and departments by drastically reducing the workforce, rendering these agencies unable to function. This is has been occurring at the Social Security Administration (SSA) over the last couple of months and has caused serious harm to the department and the people it serves. In the last several weeks, essential positions and infrastructure have been eliminated, resulting in thousands of layoffs at the SSA, with further cuts expected in the coming weeks. These actions are being framed as efforts for “efficiency,” but it is evident that they are intended to undermine the system and unlawfully dismantle the Social Security programs that countless Americans have contributed to throughout their working lives and now depend on for their livelihood and survival. Musk has labeled Social Security a Ponzi scheme and has called for its dismantling. The agency's former director has warned that if the current administration's actions continue, payments to beneficiaries could be disrupted within 90 days. This would have catastrophic consequences not only for individuals but also for the economy as a whole. It is disgraceful that Republicans in Congress refuse to take action while the Trump administration and Musk pursue initiatives aimed at destroying our government and harming American citizens. Their inaction constitutes a dereliction of duty. They are standing by as this administration dismantles our nation and willfully ignores the Constitution. Such representatives are a disgrace to the offices they hold. It is important to remember that you work for the people who elected you. Your responsibility is not to show loyalty to Trump but to act in the best interests of your constituents. Stop acting out of cowardice and stand up for what is right. I urge you to use your power as elected officials to protect your constituents.
