To the Republican Members of Congress:
I am writing to express my deep frustration and disappointment over your continued role in perpetuating the ongoing government shutdown. This crisis is not a political game — it is a direct assault on hardworking Americans who depend on their paychecks, their healthcare, and the stability of essential government services.
Federal workers across the country are struggling to pay their bills and feed their families. SNAP benefits and food assistance programs are being slashed, leaving vulnerable children and seniors wondering where their next meal will come from. Families are facing rising healthcare premiums as uncertainty ripples through the economy. These are not abstract consequences — they are the real and painful results of political dysfunction in Washington.
You were elected to serve the American people, not to hold their livelihoods hostage for partisan gain. Refusing to cooperate with Democrats to reopen the government is an abdication of that duty. Leadership means compromise, responsibility, and courage — not obstruction and ideological stubbornness.
I urge you to put aside political posturing and work across the aisle to end this shutdown immediately. The American people deserve a functioning government and representatives who prioritize their well-being above party loyalty.
It is time to do what is right. End this shutdown. Restore pay to federal workers. Protect food and healthcare assistance for those in need. Show the country that you still remember who you serve.
