Support H.R. 3565 — Block the Bombs Act
To: Sen. Merkley

I want to thank you for consistently speaking out against the slaughter in Gaza and for refusing to take Israeli lobby money. That integrity matters. But this moment demands even more. The people of Gaza are not just victims of “a conflict.” They are victims of a calculated campaign of ethnic cleansing carried out under the false banner of “self-defense.”
Your voice carries weight. When you speak, others follow. That’s why I am urging you to push even harder: call this what it is—genocide. Stop letting Israel hide behind the tired excuse of being a perpetual victim. A state that bombs hospitals, starves civilians, and flattens neighborhoods is not a victim. It is a perpetrator of crimes against humanity.
The Block the Bombs Act (H.R. 3565) is exactly the kind of bold step needed. It stops the flow of U.S. weapons unless Israel complies with international law. Passing it will not only save lives, it will prove America can act with moral clarity.
I urge you to:
• Cosponsor and champion H.R. 3565.
• Speak even louder, naming Israel’s crimes for what they are.
• Lead the Democratic caucus away from excuses and toward accountability.
You are on the right side of history—but history demands courage, not caution. Please continue raising your voice, because millions of lives depend on it.
