Today’s arrests of independent black journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort are deeply disturbing. It is not illegal to report on protests, and this is a clear escalation of the Trump administration’s attempts to undermine our constitutional rights. These journalists must be cleared of any and all charges, and they must be freed immediately. It is telling that career prosecutors advised against these arrests, but the Trump DOJ went ahead and arrested them anyway. This cannot stand. Protect our constitutional rights and stop the corrupt DOJ.
