Protect Medicaid coverage, reject harmful Senate cuts.

The proposed Medicaid cuts in the Senate reconciliation bill would cause millions of Americans to lose their health care coverage and harm access to Medicare services and prescription drugs. This harmful legislation heavily targets states that have expanded Medicaid and imposes restrictions on state directed payments and provider taxes that finance care for vulnerable populations. The bill restricts new state directed payments to just 100% of Medicare rates in expansion states, while grandfathering in existing payments but phasing them down over time to that same low limit. It also places a moratorium on new provider taxes and caps existing taxes at just 3.5% in expansion states after a multi-year phase down period. These policies will severely undermine states' ability to adequately fund their Medicaid programs and maintain coverage for millions enrolled through the expansion, jeopardizing access to Medicare services and making prescription drugs unaffordable. Stripping health care from vulnerable Americans is unacceptable. Vote no on the Senate reconciliation bill to protect Medicaid, Medicare, and affordable prescription drugs while preventing massive coverage losses.
