I am reaching out to you as a proud but concerned Ohio citizen regarding the potential deployment of DHS and ICE personnel to Springfield, Ohio.
As we have all witnessed, the presence of DHS and ICE in Minnesota has only served to escalate tensions and further divide our nation. The violence that ICE has brought to the citizens of Minnesota is not anything I would want to see replicated, especially not here in Ohio. Immigration and freedom of speech are deeply embedded in the foundation of our nation, we cannot allow the hateful rhetoric to continue to poison communities and allow for state sanctioned violence against civilians. There is clearly a vendetta or personal obsession within this administration towards the Haitian population in Springfield, and it is about to not only cause mass havoc in that area but potentially all of Ohio. I am urging you to look at the needs of Ohioans, and the consequences of ICE involvement in communities, and disregard the pressure that the Trump administration may be imparting. Ohioans, and the nation, deserve better. Do not allow ICE into our communities. Do not allow Ohio to become Minnesota. Do not allow more headlines of ICE inflicted violence and intimidation to be reporting in from our local stations. I am asking you to put morality above politics, and above reputation amongst your party.
Please do not take this step deeper into ICE’s reign of terror.
