Hold JD Vance and the Young Republican National Federation Accountable

To: Sen. Wilson, Rep. Walsh, Rep. McEntire, Gov. Ferguson

From: A constituent in Longview, WA

October 21

I am writing to you as a concerned constituent to express my deep dismay over recent comments made by Vice President JD Vance regarding the abhorrent messages shared in a leaked group chat by members of the Young Republican National Federation. The messages in question included racist slurs, praise for Adolf Hitler, jokes about rape, and references to gas chambers—language that is not only vile and inexcusable but also dangerous in its normalization of hate speech and violence. Despite this, Vice President Vance dismissed these comments as “what kids do,” suggesting that such behavior should not “ruin their lives.” This response is not only deeply troubling but also hypocritical. It is especially disturbing that the Vice President would excuse such behavior as youthful indiscretion while simultaneously supporting policies that deny actual children—some of whom are victims of rape—access to abortion and reproductive healthcare. This contradiction is not only morally indefensible but also undermines the values of justice, accountability, and compassion that our nation should uphold. I urge you to publicly condemn Vice President Vance’s remarks and reaffirm your commitment to fighting racism, antisemitism, and misogyny in all forms. Our leaders must be held to the highest standards, and silence in the face of hate only enables its spread. Please stand with your constituents in demanding accountability and integrity from those who hold public office. Our democracy depends on it. Thank you for your time and service. Sincerely,
