Please vote NO on the “Laken Riley Act.” This bill would undermine constitutional protections and disrupt the balance of power between states and federal government. This bill would further erode constitutional protections for undocumented immigrants who are accused of a crime, even if they are never convicted, even if the charges are dropped. The bill would also authorize individual States to sue the federal government over a wide range of immigration policies, regardless of whether they have any legitimate interest or stake, likely causing more confusion and uncertainty in our immigration system. Please vote against the Laken Riley Act. Congress must spend their time working to protect vulnerable individuals and civil society from the Trump administration’s agenda, not passing laws to empower it.
