URGENT — Support the War Powers Resolution and Prevent Another Forever War! I am writing as your constituent to urge you to vote YES on the War Powers Resolution and prevent unauthorized military escalation with Iran. The Constitution is clear: Congress — not the President — has the sole authority to declare war. Article I, Section 8 was written specifically to prevent one individual from dragging the nation into conflict without debate, accountability, and a vote of the people’s representatives. We are watching a massive U.S. military buildup in the Middle East, including the deployment of multiple carrier strike groups and tens of thousands of troops. There has been no formal authorization from Congress, no transparent strategy presented to the American people, and no serious public debate about the consequences. We have seen this before. Wars begin with limited strikes and vague promises. They expand. They linger. They cost trillions of dollars. They destabilize entire regions.
