Oppose the MAMDANI Act — Reject This Police State Architecture

Vote no on Chip Roy's MAMDANI Act. This is not immigration policy. It is the architecture of a police state, modeled on how the Nazis stripped citizenship from German Jews and political dissidents in 1935 under the Reich Citizenship Laws.
The bill would let the government deport naturalized citizens and green-card holders for owning books like Das Kapital or Palestinian solidarity pamphlets. The word "possess" in the legislation means simply having these materials makes someone deportable. It bars all judicial review, eliminating habeas corpus and any meaningful appeal. No court could stop the government from stripping citizenship based on reading materials or political beliefs.
This targets 25 million naturalized citizens and 12.8 million green-card holders. Mayor Mamdani, the bill's namesake, became a citizen in 2018 and has committed no crime. Roy admits his real target is anyone opposing "free-market capitalism."
If Roy wants to ban "totalitarian movements," Christian Nationalism qualifies as much as the movements he lists. This bill creates a loyalty test for an ideology, not a country. The Supreme Court rejected this approach in Schneiderman v. United States in 1943, and Congress should reject it now.
