Restore Civil Rights Protections in Schools – Reject the “Sanctioning Child Abuse” Executive Order (4/23/25) I’m writing to demand that Congress take immediate and decisive action to block Donald Trump’s April 23, 2025 Executive Order, deceptively titled “Reinstating Common Sense School Discipline Policies.” I’m calling it what it truly is: The Sanctioning Child Abuse Executive Order. This order is not only morally bankrupt—it is legally indefensible and flat-out unconstitutional. It bans schools from using racial disparity data to inform discipline policy, effectively dismantling Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, which exists to protect students from discrimination based on race, color, and national origin. By forbidding data collection and punishing schools that pursue equity or trauma-informed care, this order doesn’t promote fairness—it institutionalizes systemic harm. This EO creates the conditions for: • Racially biased punishment to go unchecked • Disabled and neurodivergent students to be criminalized instead of supported • LGBTQIA+ and immigrant students to be erased from inclusive frameworks • Educators and school districts to be threatened or defunded for protecting the vulnerable Let me be very clear: This is illegal. This is unconstitutional. And this is child abuse codified into federal policy. And the hypocrisy? It’s beyond belief. Just three weeks ago, this same administration proclaimed April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month, vowing to protect children from trauma. Yet now they’ve issued an executive order that does the opposite—one that puts children in direct psychological, emotional, and academic danger. You cannot say you’re against child abuse while enacting policies that actively expose kids to it. This is nothing short of a state-run political indoctrination campaign—designed to turn public schools into authoritarian institutions that punish difference, enforce obedience, and silence truth. Our children are not political pawns. Our schools are not indoctrination stations. Our Constitution is not optional. I urge you to: • Immediately condemn and reject Executive Order 4/23/25 • Restore and defend Title VI protections across the country • Block any executive action that targets inclusion, equity, or trauma-informed education • Protect students, educators, and nonprofits from politically motivated retaliation This isn’t just about policy—it’s about protecting the safety, dignity, and future of every child in America. The abuse must stop. The harm must end. And Congress must act immediately!
