End the Unauthorized War With Iran — Vote to Invoke the War Powers Resolution

To: Sen. Lee, Rep. Maloy, Sen. Curtis

From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT

June 9

You are in dereliction of your duty. The United States has been at war with Iran for more than 60 days — an Apache helicopter has been shot down, American crew members were nearly lost, and we are trading strikes with a nuclear-threshold state — all without a single vote from Congress. The War Powers Resolution exists precisely for this moment, and you have ignored it. This war didn't have to happen. The Iran nuclear deal was working. It kept Iran from developing weapons, and Trump walked away from it for no good reason — and now we're here, in an undeclared war with a country we had a functional agreement with. The Constitution gives Congress the power to declare war, not the executive branch. Every day you stay silent is a day you hand that authority away permanently. Call for an immediate vote on authorization. If you support this war, go on record. If you don't, act to end it. What you cannot do — what you must not do — is nothing.
