“I learned ninth-grade civics: You’ve got three equal branches of government. But right now, the Congress is not one of them. It abdicated everything to the White House.” This is a quote from Fred Upton, the Michigan Republican who served more than 35 years in the House. You probably know him well. Every time I call you out on your cowardice, you send me the same boilerplate letter with the same 9th grade civics lesson Mr. Upton cites. You know very well that he is correct and you don’t care. What is your motivation? Why do you abdicate your congressional authority? Why are you willing to betray your constituents and your country? You took an oath, sir. Why are the president’s petty tantrums and revenge schemes more important than your honor and your integrity? I await your answer.
