Congrats on your nomination to lead DHS. I was just thinking you would have made a good ICE officer if you found yourself in their target age group when they started recruiting. I would have joined for sure. I worked the jobs that these ICE officers are from: jailer, security; and I know they need leadership and direction in their use of force to comply with the constitution to which we both swore an oath. I think your experience in business works to your advantage in this appointment, but you might want learn about constitutional use of force before your hearing (see FLETC legal department). I respect your MMA experience, as I found MMA techniques helpful in my career. Remember that your experience is with consenting adults, and law enforcement also needs knowledge of when it's appropriate to use force. Your experience budgeting a business is desperately needed in DHS right now. We are at war in the Middle East and homeland security funding isn't protecting Americans from outside threats, but causing chaos within our nation. For example, they executed Alex Pretti for legally carrying a firearm AFTER he was disarmed without resisting. His hands never got anywhere near his firearm, did you see the videos? This is why America turned on Kristi Noem: It was obvious she was lying and her officers were violating the second amendment. We must redirect funding to other areas of DHS that protect us from foreign threats, like cybersecurity. CBP and ICE should focus on the border and points of entry. The more money we spend at war, the more it looks like DHS needs to be prepared to defend the homeland from middle eastern threats with the money they already have. I don't know what kinds on terrorists this war in Iran is going to inspire, but DHS must be prepared. We learned that lesson in Iraq: starting foreign wars inspires terrorists to conspire against us. DHS also has a big problem that requires YOUR unique experience: ICE detention facilities don't have plumbing to humanely detain people (see OK's jail standards for an example of minimal standards for detention). Congrats again! Remember, it is your job to tell the president the truth, history will remember you. Time to cowboy up. P.S. If you can't tell Trump no, I would seriously consider seeking legal advice about your criminal liability.
