Release Ever Alvarenga Rios and Provide Immediate Medical Care ( Maryland)

To: Gov. Moore, Sen. Gile, Del. Bagnall Tudball

From: A verified voter in Arnold, MD

April 11

Release Ever Alvarenga Rios and Provide Immediate Medical Care I'm calling on you to intervene immediately in the case of Ever Alvarenga Rios, who was arrested by ICE on April 2nd in Baltimore and is being denied critical medical care. He must be released from detention and given proper treatment for his injuries. Alvarenga sustained head, back, hand, and ACL injuries during his arrest and was hospitalized for three days. Since his transfer to the ICE holding facility on April 6th, he has not seen a single doctor or nurse. He lacks access to medication, showers, or fresh bandages, putting him at serious risk for infection. This is unacceptable treatment of someone in federal custody. Alvarenga is a youth pastor and small business owner who has been legally challenging a 2018 removal order through the appeals process. His attorneys have secured an emergency motion preventing deportation, yet he remains detained in dangerous conditions. His wife reports that even from detention, his first concern was making sure his workers got paid. Release Alvarenga immediately so he can receive proper medical care and continue his legal case. No one should be denied basic medical treatment while in government custody.
