Reconsider SAVE Act to protect voting rights and access

To: Sen. Hassan, Sen. Shaheen, Rep. Pappas

From: A constituent in Merrimack, NH

February 12

The SAVE Act aims to require documentary proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration. However, this measure could disproportionately disenfranchise marginalized groups who face barriers to obtaining requisite documentation. Voter suppression undermines democratic principles and harms representation. I urge careful reconsideration to uphold voting rights and access for all eligible citizens without creating undue burdens. Protecting the integrity of elections is vital, but it must be balanced against ensuring no citizen is unduly prevented from participating in the electoral process.
