I am horrified by what’s happening to Haitian immigrants in Springfield, OH. Their treatment by ICE officers, and this administration as a whole, has been inhumane and cruel. A 20-year-old young man, Pierre Damas Bel, took his own life this week rather than be treated as a common criminal. He was an honor student, an aspiring doctor, and a member of JROTC! What are we doing? This is fascism. TPS must be extended for Haitian immigrants before more are sent to their deaths in their wartorn country—or driven to kill themselves here. These are beloved members of the community, hard workers, valuable healthcare providers, and more. We must stop abusing them. Extend their TPS now! And end ICE. Thanks.
