The right to sue federal agents who violate civil SC residents' rights

To: Rep. Hixon, Sen. Young, Gov. McMaster

From: A verified voter in North Augusta, SC

January 28

Several states are now introducing bills allowing individuals to sue federal law enforcement when their civil rights are violated. I would like you to consider a similar bill for the state of South Carolina. ICE and CBP have proven that they are willing to operate outside the law and trample of the due process rights of immigrants, as well as many US citizen's constitutional rights. Republicans have always promoted states rights and a small federal government but now seem willing to let the federal government trample states rights. I can only assume that this is because they largely support the Trump administration and it's agenda. This is a dangerous precedent to set. Do not make the mistake of thinking your party will always be in control. Give the residents of South Carolina a way to protect themselves from an overreaching federal government.
