Maintain Governor Cooper’s veto of SB-382
To: Rep. Miller, Sen. Rabon
From: A verified voter in Oak Island, NC
December 1
Governor Cooper’s recent veto of SB382 is a step in the right direction for NC. We need to stop blatant partisan politics that simply look to manipulate the state vs enact positive change for NC. This bill is labeled as a disaster relief bill but, instead, is a thinly veiled attempt to strip elected state officials of their power before the next group takes office.
The people of NC have spoken and elected the officials that they want for attorney general, governor, board of education, and more. If we truly believe in democracy, we must accept this and allow the process to proceed. We are not a monarchy with a king, we are a democracy that should listen to the people.
It is critical that we allow governor cooper’s veto to remain in place. To do otherwise is an attempt to undermine democracy and what makes America.
