I am writing to object to the creation of a $1.776 billion slush fund that can be used to pay Trump allies who claim they've been wrongfully targeted by the Biden admin's ‘weaponization' — including, reportedly, Jan. 6 insurrectionists, people who have been convicted of crimes against the government that has now decided to pay them for those crimes. This is naked abuse of power. This is misappropriation of funds. This is grifting. This is self-dealing. You, as a member of Congress, need to do something about it. Why is this administration being allowed to play games with taxpayer money? Why has this Congress absolutely ceded its constitutional powers of the purse? You must -- absolutely must -- use whatever levers of power you have available to you in order to stop this. It's lunacy. It is one of the reasons the rest of the world is laughing at us. This is banana republic behavior. Make it stop.
