An Open Letter

To: Rep. Wahab

From: A constituent in Livermore, CA

November 5

I'm writing to ask that you not support Hakeem Jeffries for House leader in the upcoming leadership vote. My concern is not personal. It's about whether he is the right leader for this moment. Too often his approach has come across as cautious and reactive, when voters need clear direction and a willingness to fight for the people you represent. I want a leader who sets the agenda, holds the caucus together around a strong message, and is not afraid to draw sharp contrasts with the administration. A leadership election is one of the few moments when rank-and-file members have real influence. I hope you'll use yours to push for new leadership, or at minimum to ask for specific commitments on strategy and accountability before casting your vote. I'd appreciate hearing where you stand and how you plan to vote. Thank you for your time and your service.
