As an American, I am terrified over the abrupt turn our country has taken since DJT became president and you became my representative. We are very close to becoming an authoritarian regime and you are helping this along. The president is not supposed to have more power than the Congress or the courts, but through Congress’ allowance of ‘emergency’ powers, this is exactly where we are. The GOP used to be staunch supporters of constitutional rights, but no longer is. The most recent glaring example is people all over the country being silenced over the Charlie Kirk assassination. I’m sorry for his family’s loss. (No one should be killed by firearms, but that’s another discussion.) But anyone is this country should have the right to speak about his death in any way that they want. That’s our first amendment right, remember? Unfortunately, people are losing their jobs because they point out that Kirk was (among other things) a racist. How can you justify this? Please stand up for America and help to save our democracy before it’s too late. This is not hyperbole. Action is needed NOW.
