Stop Trump’s Illegal Domestic Military Use and Prevent Insurrection Act Abuse I am writing to express deep alarm at President Trump’s dangerous expansion of military use on U.S. soil. His recent actions—including the April 11th memorandum granting DOD authority over public civilian lands at the southern border and his threat to invoke the Insurrection Act—signal a deeply troubling escalation toward domestic military policing and authoritarian overreach. There is no “invasion” of the United States. Yet the administration is manufacturing a crisis to justify deploying federalized troops under Title 10—potentially violating both the Posse Comitatus Act and the Constitution’s design for civilian control of law enforcement. This not only endangers millions of border residents but also undermines our democracy, threatens civil liberties, and risks turning military personnel into tools of political enforcement. History has shown that domestic military deployment should only occur in extreme emergencies. Trump’s use of the military for political theater and anti-immigrant agendas is neither justified nor lawful. I urge you to: 1. Oppose any attempt to invoke the Insurrection Act under false pretenses; 2. Demand transparency and oversight of military activities within civilian areas; 3. Enact legislation restricting misuse of Title 10 deployments; 4. Restore constitutional boundaries that safeguard against abuse of executive military powers. Congress must act now to prevent a grave misuse of the military and protect our communities from unnecessary force. This is not national defense—it is political militarization.
