Protect Trans Nevadans

To: Sen. Cortez Masto, Sen. Rosen

From: A verified voter in Henderson, NV

September 25, 2025

I am writing to you as a constituent from Henderson who is deeply concerned about the anti-trans provisions being attached to the upcoming budget. These harmful riders are nothing more than cynical attempts to score political points at the expense of some of the most vulnerable people in our state and across the country. The trans community is already suffering under the Trump regime. Relentless attacks on their rights, their healthcare, and their dignity have left them more exposed than ever. Adding further restrictions in the budget process is an unacceptable betrayal. Budgets are moral documents, and any budget that singles out and harms trans Nevadans is one that does not deserve your support. I recognize that budget negotiations can be complex and that compromises are often made. But there is no compromise when it comes to the basic human rights of our neighbors, coworkers, friends, and family members. Trans Nevadans deserve to live free from government-sanctioned discrimination. Allowing these provisions to pass would only embolden extremists and send the message that our state’s leadership is willing to trade away trans lives for political expediency. I urge you to commit, publicly and unequivocally, to voting “no” on any budget that includes anti-trans language or provisions. Please stand firm, and do not allow this cruelty to be codified. Nevadans are watching, and we expect our Senators to be champions for justice, equality, and human dignity.
