Oppose Bill Restricting Transgender Healthcare and Sports Participation in Ohio

To: Sen. Dolan

From: A constituent in Westlake, OH

January 13

The recent House vote to override the veto of a bill restricting transition-related medical care for minors and limiting transgender athletes' participation in school sports is deeply troubling. This bill, if passed in the Senate, would make Ohio the 23rd state to restrict such care and the 25th to limit trans student athletes' participation. Major medical associations, including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Psychological Association, all support minors' access to gender-affirming care. The proposed restrictions would make Ohio the most restrictive state in terms of evidence-based healthcare. It is crucial to respect the autonomy of individuals and medical professionals in making healthcare decisions. Therefore, it is requested that you consider the potential harm this could cause to young people in Ohio and vote against this bill in the Senate.
