Reject Vought nomination, protect democracy and constitutional norms

To: Sen. Moody, Sen. Scott, Rep. Buchanan

From: A constituent in Brandon, FL

February 3

The recent funding freeze by the White House threatened critical government services and programs that millions of Texans rely on. This unconstitutional overreach cannot be allowed to continue. Russell Vought, the President's nominee for Director of the Office of Management and Budget, has refused to affirm in his confirmation hearings that he would uphold the Constitution over the President's demands. His past actions as an architect of the Project 2025 initiative demonstrate a willingness to subvert the will of Congress by withholding funds appropriated by law. Confirming Vought to lead OMB would enable further erosion of constitutional norms and the separation of powers. As a constituent from Dallas, I urge you to call for Vought's nomination to be withdrawn and to vote against his confirmation if it proceeds. Protecting our democratic system of checks and balances must take precedence over partisan loyalties.
