Reject Gabbard nomination for amplifying Russian disinformation
To: Sen. Cassidy, Sen. Kennedy
From: A constituent in New Orleans, LA
November 22
I urge against confirming Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence due to her concerning history of amplifying Russian disinformation and propaganda narratives. According to reports, Gabbard has spread baseless conspiracy theories about U.S.-funded biolabs in Ukraine, parroting Kremlin talking points denounced by the U.S. government, news outlets, and independent researchers. She has also cast doubt on Syria's role in chemical attacks despite overwhelming evidence implicating the Assad regime. Furthermore, Gabbard lacks experience in the intelligence community, having never served on congressional intelligence committees or held intelligence-related roles. Her tenure would likely be marked by clashes with analysts due to her skepticism of U.S. intelligence assessments, particularly regarding Russian disinformation efforts. Giving Gabbard this critical position risks undermining national security by empowering someone who has propagated foreign propaganda and disinformation. I strongly urge the rejection of this nomination to protect the integrity of U.S. intelligence operations.
