An Open Letter
To: Rep. Carey
From: A verified voter in Grove City, OH
July 14
The Sunshine Protection Act (HR 139) is a terrible idea and I urge you to vote No.
This would negatively affect Ohioans and provide no benefit. We don’t need mater sunsets in the winter. The late sunrises make for dangerous conditions for schoolchildren and people on the roads since twilight is known to be one of the most dangerous times on the roads. It would harm industries that work outside and rely on the current sunrise time to start their day.
This experiment was tried in 1974 and was deemed a failure and quickly repealed. Why can we not learn from past mistakes?
If we must end the twice yearly clock change, the proper method would be to stay on STANDARD time.
Thank you!
