Oppose Trump’s Executive Order Undermining Voting Rights

To: Del. Higgins, Gov. Youngkin, Sen. Perry

From: A constituent in Purcellville, VA

August 18, 2025

This executive order from the Trump administration represents an alarming attack on the fundamental right to vote in America. Requiring documentary proof of citizenship like passports to register to vote would disenfranchise millions of eligible voters who lack such documentation, disproportionately impacting marginalized communities. The constitution gives states the authority to set voter eligibility rules, not the president via executive fiat. Current processes already verify citizenship and prevent non-citizen voting through multiple federal databases. There is no evidence of widespread fraud to justify restricting access to the ballot box on this scale. This order is a clear overreach that must be opposed to protect democracy and the freedom to vote for all Americans. I urge you to speak out forcefully against this unconstitutional executive order that undermines the sacred right to vote.
