Support the Sunset Section 230 Act to Hold Social Media Accountable

I'm asking you to co-sponsor and vote yes on the Sunset Section 230 Act sponsored by Senators Durbin and Lindsey Graham. Section 230 has given social media companies three decades of legal impunity while their platforms facilitate real harm, and it's time to end it.
More than 80% of teens who die from fentanyl poisoning connect with dealers on social media. Parents like Kristin Bride, whose 19-year-old son Devon died after connecting with a dealer on Snapchat in 2020, shouldn't have to bury their children while companies like Meta, TikTok, and X hide behind outdated protections. Every legislative attempt to protect kids has been blocked by Section 230.
Section 230 was written when platforms were considered neutral like phone companies. That's no longer true. These companies use algorithms that amplify content and shape what millions see daily. They have disproportionate power and should be held accountable for how their platforms are used. The Sunset Section 230 Act would give social media companies two years to operate responsibly before their protections expire. That's more than fair. Move this bill out of committee and pass it.
