An Open Letter

To: Rep. Evans

From: A constituent in Greeley, CO

March 14

I want you to consider what it truly means to serve the people you were elected to represent. It is clear that you stand by this administration's decisions, and we will be remember that when and if it comes time to vote for you again. In your previous response to my concerns, you chose to repeat the administration’s talking points rather than engage in meaningful discussion. You dismissed legitimate ethical and legal concerns by claiming that the Executive Branch certifies its own legitimacy—a deeply flawed and dangerous notion. You defended DOGE as though it were a properly vetted agency when in reality, it operates without legal accountability or oversight, allowing private interests to wield government power unchecked. You present yourself as a champion of ethics, law enforcement, and public service, yet you now align yourself with an unelected, unaccountable group that operates outside of legal safeguards. If you truly believed in transparency, fairness, and the rule of law, you would be demanding scrutiny—not serving as a mouthpiece for an administration that has handed the reins of government to billionaires with no public accountability. Public concern over government spending is not a blank check to strip away jobs, livelihoods, and security from citizens. The people you claim to represent are not waste to be "cut" for the sake of efficiency. They are workers, families, and taxpayers—people who trusted that their government would serve them, not sell them out to the highest bidder. Your argument that DOGE employees are held to ethical standards has already been publicly debunked. The so-called 'special government employees' have been exposed as morally bankrupt, their ethical safeguards meaningless in the face of clear conflicts of interest. You cannot claim integrity for a system that has already proven itself corrupt. And by continuing to defend it, you expose your own conflict of interest as someone more concerned with protecting power than with serving the people who elected you. Your silence in the face of this overreach is complicity. This administration’s actions border on treason, the world is watching, and your constituents are suffering. Your attempts to justify it are propaganda, not leadership. And your choice to stand behind it will not be forgotten. You had the chance to do what is right, and you chose to protect power instead of people. That is something you will have to answer for—not just politically, but morally. I will be sharing your response widely so others understand exactly where you stand. "Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the fatherless. What will you do on the day of reckoning, when disaster comes from afar? To whom will you run for help? Where will you leave your riches?" -Isaiah 10:1-3
