Unauthorized Military Action in Iran

To: Sen. Scott, Sen. Moody, Rep. Moskowitz

From: A constituent in Pompano Beach, FL

June 22, 2025

On June 21, 2025, President Trump ordered airstrikes on Iran without Congressional authorization. This action violates the War Powers Resolution of 1973, Article I of the Constitution, and potentially international law. No war was declared, no attack on the U.S. occurred to justify emergency powers, and Congress was not consulted or asked to vote. This unauthorized use of military force threatens U.S. democracy, endangers lives, and undermines global stability. I urge you to: 1. Publicly condemn this illegal act of war. 2. Support a War Powers Resolution to restrict further unauthorized action. 3. Demand full transparency and an independent investigation into the strike. 4. Hold the President accountable, including through impeachment proceedings if warranted. Congress alone holds the power to declare war. This principle is not optional. Defend the Constitution. Rein in executive overreach. Act now.
