Save USAID

To: Sen. Crapo, Sen. Risch

From: A constituent in Twin Falls, ID

February 7

I am writing to urge you to take action to protect the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) from potential funding cuts or closure. USAID plays a critical role in promoting stability, economic development, and humanitarian assistance worldwide, and its work directly benefits both the global community and our own national security interests. As the richest country in the world, the United States has a responsibility to use its resources to foster a better, more stable world. USAID’s programs provide life-saving assistance in times of crisis, combat poverty and disease, and help developing nations build sustainable economies. These efforts not only align with our nation’s values but also serve our strategic interests by reducing conflict, strengthening international partnerships, and addressing the root causes of migration and instability. Despite the enormous impact of USAID’s work, its budget constitutes only a fraction of a percent of total U.S. government spending. Cutting its funding or eliminating the agency would be both shortsighted and detrimental to America’s leadership on the world stage. I urge you to oppose any efforts to diminish USAID’s capacity and instead advocate for its continued funding and expansion. Please stand up for the essential work USAID does and ensure that the United States remains a leader in global humanitarian efforts. I appreciate your commitment to serving our country. I look forward to your response.
