Prohibit conflicts of interest, protect fair competition practices

It is extremely concerning that Elon Musk and his associates at DOGE have been granted access to confidential supervisory information about X's competitors from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). This represents a blatant conflict of interest given Musk's plans to launch a digital wallet and peer-to-peer payment services with X that would directly compete with the companies whose confidential data he now has access to. Allowing Musk to obtain sensitive details like violations of law, business systems and processes, investigative tactics used by regulators, and customer data of rival firms gives him an unfair competitive advantage. This compromises fair market competition and undermines the CFPB's role as an independent watchdog overseeing financial institutions. Such conflicts of interest between Musk's business empire and his government advisory role at DOGE are precisely what ethics rules are intended to prevent. Immediate steps must be taken to revoke Musk's inappropriate access to this confidential data and reinstate proper firewalls between the CFPB's regulatory work and Musk's private commercial interests with X. Robust protections for competitive business information must be re-established to maintain a level playing field.
