An Open Letter

To: Rep. Houchin

From: A constituent in Bloomington, IN

July 3

Please vote against the Big Beautiful Bill. I am so scared for my friend on Medicaid/Medicare. My HIP insurance is the only reason I survived my twenties. Without it, I could never have afforded my trauma therapy or my medication. I could also have never afforded my care after I broke my leg at 22, and I would have gone into significant medical debt. If that had happened, I wouldn't currently be sitting in the house I own, because homeownership would be out of the question. Medicaid/Medicare certainly need reforms, but this is not the way to do it. We can have reform that doesn't risk people's lives. No budgetary ideals are worth sacrificing the people of our country. I don't want to watch the people I love die because their government cared more about tax cuts for political donors than the lives of their constituents. Please vote against this bill.
