Congress must stop the Trump administration's restructuring of the US Forest Service. This plan will gut the agency that manages 193 million acres of public land and leave our forests vulnerable to catastrophic wildfires.
The Forest Service has already lost more than a quarter of its full-time workforce, including as many as 1,400 wildfire-certified employees. Now the administration is closing all regional offices and replacing them with just 15 Trump-appointed state directors. They're forcing workers to choose between relocating to Salt Lake City or Colorado or losing their jobs entirely. This isn't reform. It's sabotage.
We've seen what happens when the Forest Service lacks resources and experienced staff. Wildfires grow deadlier. Response times slow. Communities pay the price. The administration is breaking the law and violating the Constitution to push this through, and Congress has the power to block it. Do your job and protect the agency that protects our public lands.
