Address conditions at fl concentration camp
To: Sen. Warner, Sen. Kaine
From: A constituent in Charlottesville, VA
July 7
I’m writing to demand immediate action regarding the migrant detention site known as Alligator Alcatraz in the Florida Everglades.
This site is imprisoning thousands—including menstruating women, children, and the elderly—in canvas tents with no plumbing, no sanitation, no medical care.
This is not just a human rights violation. It is a public health emergency.
Mosquito-borne diseases thrive in these conditions. Blood attracts mosquitoes. Mosquitoes spread disease. And these people are being held in tents surrounded by alligators—with no waste management, no hygiene protocol, and no protection.
This is a biohazard. Not just to Florida—but to the entire country.
I’m asking you to:
– Legally fight to restore Congressional oversight at this facility
– Mandate emergency medical infrastructure, including OB/GYN care, mosquito control, sanitary napkins, and safe disposal
– Enforce immediate compliance with public health standards:
• Biohazard disposal
• Sewage containment
• Routine cleanup of bodily fluids
These aren’t optional. They are legal, medical, and moral obligations.
If these conditions aren’t immediately addressed, this facility must be shut down.
You were elected to protect the people.
This includes stopping preventable outbreaks.
We need you to stand up and push for this to happen now.
