Noem must resign
To: Sen. Schiff

The forcible removal of Senator Padilla from the Homeland Security Secretary's press conference is a disturbing violation of democratic norms and an abuse of power. As an elected representative, the Senator has a responsibility to ask questions and hold government officials accountable. Forcibly preventing him from doing so and using physical force against him is unacceptable. This incident is symptomatic of a broader trend of authoritarianism and lack of respect for democratic institutions under the current administration. It follows a pattern of arrests and intimidation tactics used against elected officials and peaceful protesters speaking out on immigration policies. This erosion of civil liberties and trampling of dissent cannot be tolerated in a free society. I urge you to unequivocally condemn this appalling treatment of a sitting U.S. Senator. Secretary Noem and those involved in this undemocratic act must be held accountable. Measures should be taken to ensure such an unconscionable abuse of power against an elected representative can never happen again. Defending democratic values and the Constitutional rights of citizens and their representatives must be a top priority.
