Demand Investigation into FBI's Politically Motivated Searches
To: Sen. Moody, Sen. Scott, Rep. Frost
From: A constituent in Winter Park, FL
August 22, 2025
I am writing to express my deep concern over the recent FBI searches of John Bolton's Maryland home and Washington office. This action, ostensibly part of an investigation into the handling of classified information, appears to be a thinly veiled attempt by the current administration to intimidate and silence its critics.
The timing and nature of these searches are highly suspicious. John Bolton, a former national security adviser to President Trump, has not been detained or charged with any crimes. Yet, his property has been subjected to invasive searches by federal law enforcement. This move seems to be part of a broader pattern of the administration using its law enforcement powers against perceived opponents.
We must not allow our justice system to be weaponized for political purposes. The fact that these searches coincide with other investigations into Trump critics, including a grand jury probe into the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation, paints a disturbing picture of potential abuse of power.
I urge you to call for an immediate, independent investigation into the motivations behind these searches. We need transparency and accountability to ensure that our law enforcement agencies are not being used as tools for political retribution. The integrity of our democratic institutions is at stake.
Furthermore, I request that you speak out publicly against any attempts to use federal agencies to target political opponents. Our nation's commitment to the rule of law and the principle that no one is above the law – including the President – must be upheld.
Time is of the essence. With each passing day that these actions go unchallenged, we risk normalizing behavior that threatens the very foundations of our democracy. Please act swiftly to address this issue and protect the rights of all Americans to express dissent without fear of government retaliation.
