Demand RFK's resignation for the safety of public health

August 28

I am writing as a concerned constituent, compelled to respectfully urge you to condemn and act swiftly against the deeply troubling and scientifically reckless decisions recently enacted by HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Just today, Secretary Kennedy issued sweeping changes to federal COVID‑19 vaccine policy—revoking the FDA’s emergency use authorizations for Pfizer and Moderna’s mRNA vaccines and severely restricting eligibility to certain high‑risk groups. These moves, which could cost individuals as much as $140 per shot out of pocket, risk reducing vaccination rates and triggering a dangerous surge in COVID‑19 cases . Moreover, his actions have precipitated a near collapse in leadership at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Director Susan Monarez was abruptly ousted after resisting unscientific policy changes, and multiple senior CDC officials resigned in protest—warning that public health has become weaponized for political ends . One resignation letter bluntly stated: “I am unable to serve in an environment that treats CDC as a tool to generate policies . . . that do not reflect scientific reality and are designed to hurt rather than to improve the public’s health.” Secretary Kennedy has defended these actions by alleging a “malaise” within CDC and has questioned the agency’s long‑standing core mission to promote vaccination—actions that blatantly contradict both medical consensus and public trust . Further compounding the crisis, Secretary Kennedy has made offensive comments attributing school and church mass shootings to psychiatric medications—especially among transgender individuals—while conspicuously omitting any mention of firearms as the leading cause of death for U.S. children and teens . Taken together, these developments represent a grave departure from fact-based governance and pose a real and present danger to public health. I strongly urge you to take the following actions: 1. Publicly condemn Secretary Kennedy’s policy decisions and rhetoric, particularly those that undermine vaccine access and scientific integrity. 2. Demand a full congressional investigation into the removal of CDC leadership and altered vaccine guidance, ensuring adherence to evidence-based policymaking. 3. Support emergency protective legislation that safeguards agency independence at CDC and prevents political meddling in health decisions. 4. Advocate for restoring full vaccine access and accurate, science-based public messaging, especially for vulnerable populations like pregnant individuals and children. Secretary Kennedy’s actions threaten to reverse years of progress, jeopardize vaccination programs, and erode public trust. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. As a constituent deeply invested in the health and safety of our community, I would appreciate your response and actions taken to address these serious issues.
