Demand Congressional Oversight on Executive Overreach

I am deeply concerned about the recent actions of the Trump administration that appear to bypass Congressional authority and undermine our system of checks and balances. The President's claim to have unilateral power to declare war and conduct military strikes on alleged drug smuggling vessels is a dangerous overreach of executive power that demands immediate Congressional scrutiny and action. This is not an isolated incident. The administration has shown a pattern of sidestepping legislative oversight, from threatening unilateral action in international conflicts to freezing infrastructure funding for major cities during government shutdowns. These actions have real consequences for American citizens and our global standing. The economic impact of these decisions is severe. Our soybean farmers are warning that the administration's tariffs have caused lasting damage to their industry. This affects not just individual farmers, but entire communities that depend on agricultural exports. Furthermore, the administration's attempts to expand surveillance through ICE's planned social media monitoring team raise serious privacy concerns and could chill free speech. The reported removal of ICE tracking apps from the App Store after pressure from the administration is equally troubling, as it limits transparency and accountability. I urge you to take immediate action. Congress must reassert its constitutional role in matters of war and peace, trade policy, and government spending. Hold hearings to investigate these executive overreaches. Introduce legislation to clarify and reinforce the limits of executive power. Our democracy depends on a robust system of checks and balances. It's time for Congress to do its job and serve as a true counterweight to executive power. The stability of our nation and the livelihoods of your constituents are at stake. Act now to protect our constitutional framework and the interests of the American people.
