URGENT: Demand Trump use SNAP contingency funds
To: Gov. Evers
From: A constituent in Milwaukee, WI
October 31, 2025
I’m writing to you as a concerned Wisconsin resident to demand immediate action to protect and feed Wisconsin families. As our communities face growing food insecurity and a worsening hunger emergency, I urge you to call on former President Donald Trump — and the federal authorities now managing contingency resources — to release and deploy federal SNAP contingency funds to help our state’s struggling families.
Across Wisconsin and the nation, food scarcity is becoming a national crisis. Families are running out of groceries before the end of the week, food banks are overwhelmed, and parents are skipping meals so their children can eat. We are seeing the beginnings of what experts describe as famine conditions right here in the United States — a reality that should never exist in one of the richest countries on Earth.
While billionaires and major corporations remain untouched by food shortages, ordinary working people are being pushed to the brink. SNAP and WIC benefits are often the only things standing between a family and hunger. Yet instead of expanding support, we’re seeing funding cuts and delays that could have devastating, even deadly, consequences.
Governor Evers, this is an emergency, and Wisconsin cannot wait. Please use your leadership and your platform to demand that the federal government, including former President Trump and his allies who still influence USDA policy, act immediately to release SNAP contingency funds and prevent further suffering.
No one in Wisconsin — or anywhere in America — should go hungry because of political gridlock or indifference. We need bold, immediate action to ensure every family can access healthy, affordable food.
Thank you for your time, and for standing up for the people who depend on your leadership most.
