Reject harmful, discriminatory Title IX gender definition legislation
To: Sen. Van Hollen, Sen. Alsobrooks

The proposed legislation to amend Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 by restricting the recognition of gender based solely on reproductive biology and genetics at birth is concerning. This narrow definition fails to account for the diversity of gender identities and expressions that exist. Codifying such a restrictive policy would actively discriminate against transgender, non-binary, and intersex students, violating their civil rights and human dignity. We should foster an inclusive educational environment that supports and empowers all students. I urge you to reject this harmful bill and instead work towards policies that promote equity, respect, and belonging for all regardless of gender identity or expression.
