I’m not here to politely ask you to do your fucking jobs. I’m here to tell you that you are failing the country and every day you sit on your hands while federal agents kill Americans is another goddamn betrayal of your oath. Renee Good was killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis on January 7 a U.S. citizen, a mother of three shot multiple times while doing nothing more than observing what federal forces were doing in her neighborhood. Her death was ruled a homicide. Less than three weeks later — another American, ICU nurse Alex Pretti, was shot ten times by Border Patrol (under the ICE/Homeland Security umbrella) during another enforcement operation. He was out filming a confrontation and trying to help others, and videos show him holding a phone not threatening anyone before he ended up dead in the street. Two Americans. Killed by federal agents. In broad fucking daylight. And what has Congress done? We get press releases, weasel words, calls for investigations while these same agencies carry on with massive enforcement operations across the country. Some members of Congress rant about Constitution this or lawful enforcement that, as if that excuses witnessing Americans being shot in the name of policy. Accountability has been optional. Transparency non-existent. You are sworn to: “establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common Defence…” not supervise federal death squads with diplomatic immunity and ‘explain away’ the video evidence with denials. I would recommend watching the school house rock video on your job description if you need a refresh. So here’s what I want from you — no more apologies, no more press conferences, no more sugar-coated bullshit: 1. End the militarized ICE operations in American cities immediately. 2. Demand real, independent, transparent investigations not half-assed reviews by the same departments involved. 3. Hold hearings with subpoena power on every ICE and DHS official who thinks shooting American citizens is a legitimate tactic. 4. Pass actual limits on federal force and use of military/police in civilian areas. 5. Stop protecting these agencies with endless funding and immunity clauses. You represent us, yet every time someone like Good or Pretti dies, it feels like Congress represents ICE that federal bureaucracy empowered to brutalize the public. Get off your asses. Do your fucking jobs…or step aside so people who will can take your seats. Because watching MULTIPLE American citizens get killed by their own government and seeing you spin your wheels isn’t just disappointing, it’s unAmerican.
