I was pleased to read in the Baltimore Sun today the HoCo County Council unanimously passed emergency legislation Thursday banning private immigration detention facilities in the county, effectively stopping a planned detention center in Elkridge. Obviously more needs to be done to prevent this rogue agency from conducting raids and pogroms in our community but I commend the Council for taking such quick, decisive action on this imperative. We must not falter in our resistance to this abuse of power by the Federal Government and must forcefully defend Maryland's communities from these Federalized white-supremacist terror squads in every capacity at every level.
