Early voting empowers citizens by expanding opportunities to participate in our democracy and have their voices heard. Reducing the early voting period from 28 days to just 2 weeks would disenfranchise many Hoosiers, especially those who work long hours, lack reliable transportation, or face other barriers to casting a ballot on Election Day. At a time when voter turnout in Indiana ranks among the lowest in the nation, we should be focused on increasing access to the democratic process, not erecting needless obstacles. I urge you to oppose SB 284 and any measures that would make it harder for eligible Hoosiers to exercise their fundamental right to vote. Our elections should inspire participation, not exclusion.
