Speaker Mike Johnson recently stated that "entitlement programs" like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid "have to be adjusted and fixed" to address the national debt. He noted that Republicans are developing a plan to address these programs. In a recent radio interview, Johnson cited the ballooning national debt and stated, "desperate times call for desperate measures," announcing that the GOP plans to tackle mandatory entitlement spending. There has been immediate backlash, showing that Americans do not want cuts to programs they spent their entire lives paying into, just so that the Trump administration can spend with no thought of the national debt. Trump has allocated billions of dollars to an ICE and CBP slush fund without any oversight. We have yet to see how they are spending all of this money, but we already know Kristi Noem wasted billions of planes and real-estate for ICE and CBP use. Trump has spent billions of dollars on a war with Iran, which looks increasingly impossible to win. We are very likely to walk away with huge losses. We have also had billions of dollars in military weapons, equipment, and bases destroyed during this war. Trump has spent hundreds of millions of dollars putting his face, name, and brand all over Washington D.C. He is gilding statues with gold and paying outrageously expensive, no bid contracts to have fountains fixed and a triumphal arch built as a monument to himself, all while Americans struggle to afford every day life. We have money to go after Trump's perceived enemies on the American taxpayers dime, but there is not enough money for Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security without cuts?! These are programs that people like my parents depend on! These are programs that don't just benefit individuals, but society as a whole. Every single paycheck my parents earned, and every single paycheck I have earned had deductions with the understanding that these programs would be there when Americans needed them. Cutting funding for these programs is theft from the taxpayers in this country! There is NO EXUSE for how much the national debt has ballooned under the Trump Administration! Trump has BANKRUPTED almost every business he has ever run. Stop him before he bankrumps our country! If you allow him to, Trump will leave us with nothing to show for our lifetimes of hard work and finanacial contributions to the programs we expect to be there for us!
