Reject public lands sale, prioritize environmental stewardship

To: Rep. Wittman, Sen. Warner, Sen. Kaine

From: A constituent in Henrico, VA

May 8

The proposed sale of hundreds of thousands of acres of public lands in Nevada and Utah by House Republicans is deeply concerning. Public lands belong to all Americans and are a precious natural resource that must be protected for future generations. Allowing drilling, mining, logging and development on these lands would be an irreversible mistake with severe environmental consequences. These public lands provide vital habitat for wildlife, opportunities for recreation, and are an important part of our shared natural heritage. I urge you to reject any efforts to privatize or sell off public lands for short-term economic gains that come at the expense of long-term environmental protection. Public lands should be managed responsibly for the benefit of all Americans, not sold off to the highest bidder. Please stand firm against this ill-conceived proposal that puts corporate profits ahead of environmental stewardship.
